The FT article implies that ~$250mm is spent on the licensing of CPT codes; I guess the plan is to do that in house for cheaper, thereby saving no more than 0.05% of Medicare’s budget? Seems minimally effective at best.

@CNLiberalism I get that people dislike the AMA but doesn’t there need to be an actual adequate substitute for CPT codes if you intend to get rid of them? The article you linked provides no explanation of why the AMA’s involvement in billing codes is bad and what a replacement would look like.
