A little more detail. I marked 4 of the 5 largest extinction events. Crossing the purple line shown in the diagram resulted in extinction events throughout Earth's past. This is about 5C from where we are today. If we cross that threshold, the feedbacks might become overwhelming.

People denying human caused climate change refuse to prepare for/prevent the worst case scenario because they don’t expect a mass extinction to be bad.

Deniers of climate change often state that “it is only the sun”. They dismiss that the sun has been becoming brighter for billions of years and the Earth has been in ice ages in recent millions of years because of low CO2. Now CO2 is increased by humans and warming occurred.

People rely on others to survive when buying stocks for retirement. The stock holder does nothing to survive except hold stock and does no work. Stockholders are completely reliant on other’s work for their survival.

This is where death by poverty falls. Once a poor person dies, they are no longer counted as a poor person. There is another poorer class of people we rarely measure in terms of poverty, poorer than the homeless, those that died early because of that poverty.

When preparing for negative impacts, one must prepare for the worst case. In global warming, scientists are pressured to report the most likely case, but not the worst case which leaves us ill prepared for the worst case and less likely to address it. It becomes self-fulfilling.

I can't state this enough: Our estimates of high climate sensitivity are based on the best estimates of available observations. There is a high probability (from a risk perspective) that climate sensitivity is even higher than our seemingly 'higher' (than e.g. IPCC's +3°C for 2xCO₂) estimates. Uncertainty is rarely our friend, with relation to climate change. And in science 'conservative' means the opposite of what it means to risk mitigation professionals.

That's the trick, and it's the same one under every point: pair a true stat with a false conclusion, then move on before anyone objects. Disaster deaths are down, yes. NOPE. Poor forest management. Canada lets lightning fires in remote boreal zones burn unchecked because they're "impossible to fight," while suppressing natural cycles and letting fuel loads explode. Quadrupled burn area isn't just weather (lightening).....it's decades of bad policy turning manageable fires into continental smoke clouds. WEATHER not climate. Further....Only 50% of Canada's fires are due to lightening. The rest are caused by MAN. You're schtick is utter nonsense.

It's not that the climate is not changing. It is, but still today very slowly. It's that greenies entire focus is on CO2 as the one solution, a gas whose effect at 440ppm has already plateaued, such that quadrupling it would have nil additional warming effect, yet a huge effect in greening the planet.

To climate deniers: You said it was a hoax when 18M hectares burned in Canada in 2023. You ignored it when 2025 became Norway's hottest year ever. Now forests above the Arctic are burning while Canada's smoke reaches Europe. At what point will you reflect?

It's established in the paleoclimate literature (firn diffusion models, gas age distributions and studies quantifying smoothing effects).

There is evidence of a burn layer during the Permian extinction at the time many plants went extinct. The current wildfires are just the beginning.

Increasing CO2 correlates with increase in human population. This might actually not be the best time for you and I to be alive. Our kids will have a great life at 600-1000 ppm of CO2. But we have the best lives in history and as carbon based organisms, we thank CO2. Science.
