@TSG83 @kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos Okay, so you won’t say because it’s hard to admit your coach lied, I get it. Classic strawman fallacy. Enjoy your new hat.

Last night during the Kirby Smart “timeout / not timeout” I kept saying to the wife that he’s accusing Auburn of simulating the snap count…which is a penalty. The refs didn’t penalize Auburn which was the “our bad, you’re right coach” call they made.
The broadcasters really sucked in picking up the details last night.
English

@TSG83 @kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos Tell me what you think “I ran and told him they were clapping and he thought I called a timeout” and then “I didn’t need a timeout” implies? What would a reasonable person think that means? Please tell me what you think that statement means.
English

@15sethlee @kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos Again, stop using literally when it’s not applicable. You can’t claim someone literally said something then backpedal and say “well he actually said _______ but we know what that meant!”
English

@TSG83 @kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos Do you not understand what “he thought I called a timeout” means??? I like Kirby but it’s so weird to lie about that, and also weird for some UGA fans not to find it weird. Anyone with a brain understands Kirby was implying he didn’t call a timeout, when he clearly did.
English

@15sethlee @kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos And that’s not “I didn’t call timeout” is it?
Words matter, especially when you preface them with “literally”.
English

@TSG83 @kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos He literally said, “I ran over to him and said ‘they’re clapping’ and he thought I called a timeout.’”
English

@kevinparten @15sethlee @FrontOfficeLos Yes, he called for a timeout.
But again, what’s your point? Kirby hasn’t said he wasn’t calling TO. Greg McElroy said it on the broadcast and it stuck.
English

@kevinparten @FrontOfficeLos I think he lied in the press conference.
English

@15sethlee @FrontOfficeLos Clearly that’s the first time he’s ever lied then. He said the same thing on the field after clearly signaling for a timeout. If Kirby told you water wasn’t wet, what would you then say to that?
English

@FrontOfficeLos @kevinparten He literally said in his press conference that he didn’t call a timeout.
English

@kevinparten There is no point where Smart mouthed or otherwise that he didn’t call a timeout. That was put in your mind from the broadcasters.
I’ve watch this sequence multiple times in its entirety. He works the officials to point out the penalty that should be called.
English

@Jonuthin @jontweetssports I think it is clear that he was trying to call a timeout. Anybody with a brain can see that on film. I think Kirby was not being entirely truthful in the press conference.
English

@Wes_nship @jontweetssports Kirby said in the press conference that he didn’t call a timeout. Which was untrue.
English

McDonough does a great job calling games, but he shouldn't have told all of ESPN's viewers what Kirby was saying, or what Kirby's intent was, without knowing for sure.
He isn't a reporter, so it isn't an ethical failure or anything. Just can't state assumptions as fact.
Jon Tweets Sports@jontweetssports
I rewatched the Kirby timeout sequence. Kirby calls timeout. Then tells the ref that Auburn was clapping. “They can’t clap! They can’t clap!” Points to Auburn: “They’re clapping!” Ref weirdly overturns the timeout call. Broadcast assumes Kirby said he didn’t call timeout.
English

@TeamKon @barstoolsports They couldn’t stop him from getting the 1st down which was the goal of the play.
English

@15sethlee @barstoolsports They said he was unstoppable. He got stopped

@RedditCFB Buddy, we’re talking about a top 5 matchup for a conference championship vs. a Top 20 matchup for a conference championship. Take away the conference and that’s still a heavyweight championship in comparison.
English

Joe Tessitore just couldn't help himself in the transition from #Big12FB Championship to the SEC title game:
"So there's a champion here but we've got the *heavy weight* clash to determine a Champion in the SEC!"
At least sound like you respect the game you're covering. 🙄

@NoogaBammer Literally searched “abc sound” to see if anyone had posted about it. Watching on YouTube TV.

Exciting news, #Braves fans! The station I grew up with, WFLI (AM 1070) and 96.1FM, will be the 2024 Chattanooga radio home of the team I grew up with. You know, America's team, the Atlanta Braves! Spread the word!
