INDEPENDENDENT IRELAND STATEMENT: Independent Ireland will fully support proposed motion of no confidence in Government This Government has failed to listen and failed to address the concerns of people across Ireland. This is not limited to hauliers, farmers, and contractors, but extends to hard-working people throughout the country who continue to struggle under the policies of this and previous governments. There is a growing sense that taxpayers’ money is not being used effectively, and a sense that the Government continues to be led by unelected bureaucrats in Europe rather than listening to the people who elect them. The discontent around the country is not solely about fuel prices. It reflects broader concerns — and the ongoing failure to address so many issues affecting communities in both rural and urban Ireland. Crucially, there has been a continued failure to listen to those communities. People feel ignored and disconnected from decision-making processes that directly impact their daily lives.. The handling of the protests has been tone-deaf, condescending, and, at times, inflammatory rather than conciliatory. This is the reality of the blockade. Healthcare put at risk. Businesses damaged. The vulnerable made more vulnerable. Ordinary people prevented from going about their daily lives. And with no mandate to do so. It has gone too far - it has to end.

This won't be popular but Irish taxes on fuel aren't out of line with many EU countries. You can disagree with the amount, sure, I do, but we aren't some crazy outlier.

Why aren’t the idiots blockading central Dublin not protesting outside the US Embassy? Instead of blocking huge numbers of hard working Dubliners from getting home after a hard days work. Huge numbers of buses are stranded on or around the Quays. Does this really help?

I criticised this board because it wore pretty quick. I did say that it's not designed for home use, and it would only be used for a short amount of time on TV, therefore its prioritising performance over longevity. But its failing on both fronts.
