short answer: there’s no risk of name loss – your grace period end date stays exactly the same, and you can still recover the name. whilst under ENSv2 the grace period is reducing to 28 days, all names get a one-off +62 days of registration added. that extra registration time balances out the shorter grace period, so the final grace end date does not change. depending on how far into grace a name already is, some names may automatically return to active registration when this happens. there is also a change where names in grace will no longer resolve.

@forlbb yes, there are contract-level changes that would require an executable vote. whether that’s one vote or two, i’m not clear on atm. question noted – more detail should be available soon.

Misunderstanding of the mechanic - there isn't a separate 62-day phase. Under ENSv2, when a name expires it enters a 28-day grace period. If it passes through that without being extended, it goes into temporary premium. If grace was just cut to 28 days, lots of names would release into premium earlier than owners expect. So as a one-off, +62 days of registration is being added to every name. The effect: your grace period end date stays exactly the same, and you get 62 extra days of registration on top to balance the dates.

@184eth I didn’t fully understand ENSv2 grace period. If I don’t renew, it enters 28-day grace period where it’s still safe, but what happens after that in 62-day phase? Do I still have any advantage as previous owner, or is it completely open and everyone can register equally?

To be counted in a specific vote, tokens must be delegated before that vote begins. This is working as intended and is not a new change. Learn more: basics.ensdao.org/voting
