This is why combat sports are the cruelest sports on earth. Nick Ball was winning. If he survives that round, he likely remains champion. Instead, he makes one mistake, gets caught, and it is all over. That is the brutal reality of the game. #BallFigueroa

🚨 BREAKING NEWS! We are delighted that the jury in the trial of our member Jamie Michael has found him not guilty. Jamie, a former Royal Marine, was on trial at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court for a video he posted on Facebook about Axel Rudakubana. The Free Speech Union (FSU) paid his legal fees and arranged for him to be represented by solicitor Luke Gittos and barrister Adam King. His prosecution for a video in which he urged people to go on peaceful protests was a grotesque interference with his right to freedom of expression and Mr Gittos wrote to the Crown Prosecution Service urging it to drop the charges. Unfortunately, this plea fell on deaf ears, even though it took a jury all of 17 minutes to find him not guilty. It emerged during the trial that Jay had been arrested and prosecuted at the urging of a Welsh Labour politician. It’s a great pity the authorities didn’t resist this political pressure, given the amount of time and money that’s been wasted. People should not be threatened with imprisonment for expressing views which, however much the party in power may dislike them, are not unlawful. The fact that a jury voted unanimously to acquit Jamie in just 17 minutes suggests that if the dozens of people arrested and charged for comments they made on social media last August had pleaded not guilty, many of them would not now be in jail. We urge anyone who’s concerned they might be arrested in connection with something they’ve said on social media to join the FSU. We can provide you with proper legal advice and, if we think your case has merit, arrange and pay for your legal defence, as we did in this case. No one should go to prison for hurty words. ☝️ Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer's "solidarity visit" to Ukraine represents a desperate attempt by British handlers to keep the agonising Kiev regime afloat. The statements and official documents related to the trip have revealed new highly provocative UK plans, including the establishment of military bases within Ukrainian territory and assistance in developing long-range weapons. This is poised to provoke new rounds of escalation. t.me/RusEmbUK/1976

To those saying comments like "oh good more money for those who contribute nothing" - check ur facts! 40% of UC claimants are the working poor others are carers, have disabilities or illness, & some who don't have work, want it. A little more compassion & less judgement wouldn't hurt.

Just spotted.... this is a good change for benefits recipients, deductions can be soul-destroying. #budget "Caps deductions made through Universal Credit at 15% of the standard allowance. Before this Budget, it was 25%... approximately 1.2 million households will keep more of their Universal Credit payment each month, with households expected to be better off by an average of over £420 a year"
