A French consumer group has sued Ubisoft over the shutdown of the 2014 racing game The Crew. They say the company misled players by selling it as a permanent purchase, but then turned off the servers in 2024, making the game unplayable. The lawsuit is supported by the Stop Killing Games campaign.

@thatmechaguy The main draw of consoles has always been the simplicity and form factor. Consoles still have the latter (though not unchallenged anymore) and they gutted the former for a few reasons, trying to compete with PC was one but a lot of it was just fucking over consumers(cont.)
