Due to an air-conditioning mechanical issue, the Okeechobee courthouse is closed Wednesday August 12th through the weekend. Tentative plans for reopening are Monday, August 17th. Anyone with questions about their previously scheduled case should contact the clerk at 863-763-2131.

Effective July 17th, 2020 Jury Trials are suspended at all courthouses within the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit for an indeterminate period of time

If you were recently summonsed for jury duty you should have received an insert along with your summons. It outlines the steps the courts are taking to stay safe and the process to be excused if you meet certain COVID-related criteria. Sign and return the insert if applicable.

Reopening Protocols announced

May 1st is Law Day and the centennial of the 19th amendment. The first place in the American South where women were allowed to vote occurred 5 years before the Amendment was enacted and it was right here in the 19th Circuit - in the tiny Florida town of Fellsmere.
