I welcome today’s decisions to move forward with the €90 billion EU loan for Ukraine and adopt the 20th sanctions package on Russia.

Three illegal immigrants have been found guilty of gang raping a British woman on a beach in Brighton. They brutally raped her while filming and calling her a "Dirty b****". At one point, one of the rapists grabbed hold of her face, forced open her mouth and spat in it while encouraging his friends to do the same. The victim said: "I was begging them to stop and they wouldn't. Every time I close my eyes I can see them laughing at me. They thought it was funny. My skin crawls because of what they did. They're evil and they've ruined my life." She may never recover from this trauma. This is what the British government has done to the women of this country. There needs to be a reckoning.

Are the May 7th elections for England or for Pakistan ?

A mural in Brick Lane’s famous street art scene has been defaced. The artwork has been painted over with the symbol of the SS, the paramilitary group of the Nazi Party, and a star of David – the most recognisable symbol of the Jewish faith – sitting directly above it in the same paint colour. What a revolting comparison – and insult to the artist, whose hard work has been ruined by this sickening vandalism. We are aware that the police have been notified and are taking this incident seriously. We trust this will be dealt with swiftly.

Regardless of your personal views on Pride events, if you had to choose between living in one of two hypothetical countries you knew nothing about except that one had Pride events and the other had none, you would almost certainly prefer living in the country with Pride events.

This afternoon I met with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, and shared with her the depth of concern and anxiety felt across the Jewish community in the wake of the campaign of violent attacks against Jewish sites. I was reassured by her personal commitment to the safety of the Jewish community and to strengthening the law to that end, as well as her recognition of the need to address the root causes of anti-Jewish hatred.
