Yeah “I’m not perfect” is a reframe that puts everyone who isn’t perfect which is everyone in the same category “Life is messy and complex” is an unrelated observation. Their offense is ironically usually pretty simple and clear. “I’m flawed” is an attempt to look brave and transparent to distract from the crimes. It reframes all flaws as being the same despite their magnitude
