Picture this!
You finally slept by 1am because you were trying to finish that urgent, high‑priority, extremely important report your manager said he “needs first thing in the morning.” You tried your absolute best, but your brain clocked out before your laptop did, so you slept.
By 5am, your alarm… that wicked device, does what it does best… screams you out of your sleep like a landlord chasing a tenant. You switch it off so you can “just rest your eyes for 5 minutes.”
Boom. Next thing, you open your eyes and it’s 7:55am.
However, your resumption time is 8:00am.
Now you’re running around like someone being chased by village people, dressing up in 4.5 seconds, using perfume to cover up for not bathing properly, and sprinting to the bus stop to get bus from mainland to island.
You get to the office at 9:10am and of course, your manager is already waiting for you with that “So you’ve decided to be coming late?” speech. Before you can even finish apologizing, he hits you with:
“Where’s the report you said you’d submit first thing this morning?”
Ah.
That report.
Yes, THAT ONE.
The same one you didn’t finish because life was life‑ing in the middle of the night.
You sit down to finish it, but before you even type “Dear Sir,” that annoying Teams sound pops up. You get dragged into a 4‑hour meeting that could have been a voice note. After the meeting, they give you another task with a deadline so tight it could suffocate somebody.
Now you’re thinking:
“I need to quit this job.”
But immediately your brain reminds you:
“You are not a Nepo baby. Calm down before hunger teaches you a life lesson.”
It’s now 6pm and you suddenly remember you haven’t eaten anything all day. You rush to get food, do small tasks, and pack up to leave. You might think going home is easy until you reach Iyana Oworo, where everybody is fighting royal rumble to get a bus.
You spend 3 hours in Lagos traffic, finally get home, fling yourself on the bed, ready to rest…
But no!
You still have work waiting for you.
This! THIS! is the life of the average 9‑to‑5 person.
And you might think weekend will save you… until you blink, and weekend has finished. Two hours of peace and boom, Monday is back tapping you on the shoulder like:
“Hope you’re ready? The hustle continues.”
Fast forward to salary day, you receive your salary and realize you don’t even have enough to save and invest. You are workin so hard but your salary doesn’t reflect it. All this and more is what the life of an average 9-5 folk looks like.
E no reach to vex?

This is why you need to watch documentaries, read books, speak to people, and if you can afford it, travel!
Sometimes the biggest motivation you need (to do beneficial things) is confirmation of the possibility of the vague ideas in your head.
