If you have a few legs of a position on, your average cost is way lower than the current price. You should be mentally prepared for a market pullback because the market does not move higher in a straight line. When you do that, mornings like this don't phase you.

Some of you will get cute and you will take gains now and try to reload at a lower price. You will miss the move. Right now you only have two legs on so be patient. Your risk is relatively low.... Just because Pete says there could be a dip, it doesn't mean it is going to happen. You might exit your swing positions and then watch from the sidelines as the market screams higher.

What you should do is evaluate the depth of the dip. Are buyers stepping in? If you look at the daily chart below, $SPY tested the EMA8 this morning after the gap down. We now need to see if that level of support holds.

If you have a few legs of a position on, your average cost is way lower than the current price. You should be mentally prepared for a market pullback because the market does not move higher in a straight line. When you do that, mornings like this don't phase you.

This move higher has been relentless and it has gone higher than most people expected. At some point we were going to see a round of profit taking. I am expecting a normal dip in a bullish trend. $SPY DOES NOT MOVE STRAIGHT UP

The $SPY has run up 17.5% in the last MONTH AND A HALF Those are big gains and it would be normal for a compression or a small dip after such a big move. Long term swing traders, you have a couple of legs on and you should be mentally preparing for a pause or a dip.

Who are these bulls and bears? What is their track record? Didn't you run this same story last year? Were the bears bearish last year? Did the bulls catch this rally? What a bunch of bullshit.

I check CNBC for the overseas markets and I have to laugh. 'Bulls and Bears both believe this market could be just like 1999.' Unfortunately, I have to subscribe to read this insightful article.

CPI m/m: 0.6% - Exp 0.6% CPI y/y: 3.8% - Exp3.7% CPI Core m/m: 0.4% - Exp 0.3% CPI Core y/y: 2.8% - Exp 2.7% High oil prices are impacting overall prices and that isn't a surprise. The market believes this is temporary and it has not had a negative reaction.
