@celticslife I mostly believe this because Brad is forward looking and we didn’t save anything on the trade this year but having that spring contract in PG next offseason helps move him plus picks when teams are dealing with the same issue we just did. Plenty are in cap hell n have to “dump”.

The 1 potential Jaylen Brown trade that Stevens might regret this offseason the Naz Reid & FRP’s deal from MIN that CHA eventually landed. At the time it seemed underwhelming but Naz would have been a great fit & then BOS could have used the MLE or their TPE to land a wing.

There will never be another KG. Every time I think of the most ideal superstar to pair w/ another I always come back to Garnett. KG's unselfishness, drive, & insistence on putting winning 1st, 2nd, & 3rd proved to be the perfect star pairing next to Pierce & his top shelf scoring talents. Garnett would have fit perfect with any star though. Imagine him in Boston with Jayson Tatum? Or in Minnesota with Anthony Edwards? Or if Philadelphia could have paired him next to Allen Iverson? If not for Celtics bad luck with injuries beginning with KG's knee in 2009, Garnett has some additional rings to wear next to his well earned 2008 Celtics championship bling.

@celticslife I think the piece missing in this analysis is the expectation that PG opts in next season n then becomes one large salary u can trade for a current star. As opposed to having to string together ur depth pieces to make the money work for both sides.

As opposed to PG13, Reid’s contract doesn’t make him a negative asset & u could play him next to Queta unlike Mitch Brad gambled expecting a better offer & 1 never materialized.
