TAPPS Division II - District 4 Second Baptist School - Houston @SBS_Athletics Head Coach: Beck Brydon @CoachBrydon 📝 2025 Outlook Entering his third season at the helm, veteran head coach Beck Brydon has Second Baptist poised to make another strong push in TAPPS Division II after last year’s 11-win campaign. Known for disciplined, fundamentally sound football, Brydon brings stability to a roster that blends experienced leadership with emerging talent. The Eagles return an established quarterback in Senior QB Canon Toon @CanonToon and a proven core of skill players, giving them the offensive firepower to challenge for a district title. While some positions will feature new faces, the program’s track record under Brydon suggests they’ll be ready to compete at a high level by the time district play begins. 🔥 Things to Like 🔹 Established leader under center: Senior QB Toon is back to direct the offense after a standout 2024 season. At 6'3" with mobility and a strong arm, he brings poise, athleticism, and the ability to extend plays, making him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the district. 🔹 Balanced skill group and emerging stars: RB Langston Davis @langstondavis5 returns as the team’s workhorse in the backfield, providing a physical running style that complements the passing attack. WR Allen Thomas @Allen_2026 offers speed and reliable hands on the outside, while Jordan Jones adds size and a big-play presence as another proven target. 🚨 2025 Season Preview 🚨 Houston 2nd Baptist TAPPS D2, District 4 Team: @SBS_Athletics HC: @CoachBrydon @CanonToon @langstonDaviss @KelvinB_15 @Edwardburnett52 @macnorthrup63 @GriffinLewis27 @Allen_2026 @LucNormand12 @lemus2_enoc @WhitfieldDillan @1grayyk @DrewShears55 Canon Toon. That’s a name you’re going to hear a lot on Friday nights around Houston this fall. The athletic gunslinger returns to lead the Eagles for another season, bringing experience, poise, and playmaking ability to the quarterback position. Toon’s top target will once again be Allen Thomas, a reliable and explosive wide receiver who’s expected to play a major role in the passing attack. In the backfield, Langston Davis returns as the team’s leading rusher. However, he’ll be running behind an offensive line that’s undergoing some changes. Fortunately, key returners Mac Northrup, Ed Burnett, and Griffin Lewis bring valuable experience that will be crucial to the unit’s success. On the defensive side, Coach Brydon will lean on Burnett, who goes both ways, as well as Enoc Lemus and Kelvin Baptiste to control the line of scrimmage. The second and third levels of the defense will feature several new faces, but players like Peyton Jones, Dillan Whitfield, and Cash Franz are ready to step into bigger roles and prove they belong. Special teams also get a boost with new kicker Luc Normand, who already looks like the real deal with a big leg and impressive range. It’s never easy and it’s probably not smart to bet against the Eagles, especially given how well-coached and disciplined they are. But this season could be a test, as they face stiff competition and may not have quite as many explosive playmakers as some of their district rivals. That said, don’t count them out. This team knows how to win, and they’ll be in the mix when it matters most.
