I lost my wife yesterday after her courageous 1.5 year battle with cancer. And the Cats lost one of their biggest fans. In '96, from the 2nd row, she stood by me and watched the Avs skate the cup in our barn. I'm so glad she got to see the Cats win 2 cups. 1 of 2

There are no words to express how heartbroken we all are. Jessi Pierce (Hinrichs) was the most vibrant person - the life of the party, always with a smile on her face, always bringing a passion to every article and podcast and interview she did. Jessi simply loved covering the Wild and hockey throughout Minnesota and had a way of brightening everyone’s day with her upbeat, bubbly personality. I have literally NEVER met anybody that had a way of being EVERYBODY’s friend. More than anything, she absolutely loved Hudson, Cayden and Avery and was the greatest mother who did everything she could to bring joy to her sweetest kids. Even at Friday’s practice in her beloved Iowa State sweatshirt, she was so excited to take them to the seasonal opening of Cup and Cone in WBL. Seeing those precious pics yesterday, she provided them with another incredibly fun and loving day. My heart breaks for Mike for the loss of his wife and children and Jessi’s family, friends and colleagues for this unimaginable loss. This hockey community lost a wonderful, energetic and one of a kind voice and story teller and Grade A person. Life can be unbearably unfair sometimes, and it’s impossible to make sense of this tragedy. Please keep Jessi and her beautiful kids in your thoughts and prayers. I wish Mike all the peace and support and happiness in the world. A lot of tears were shed at the arena yesterday. We, in the Wild media and inside the Wild, will miss seeing Jessi everyday, laughing with her everyday. The press box and press room won’t be the same without her. It’ll be a lot quieter, a lot less funny. But her passion and joy for covering this hockey team and sport will remain. Sorry for the length of this, but as Jessi knew better than most as my original Athletic “backup” and somebody who always gave me Minnesota Hockey Journal deadline extensions, as she used to joke, I’m incapable of writing tight. Especially about her. RIP Jessi, Hudson, Cayden and Avery. 🙏💔

I was thrilled to receive my 2024-25 @FlaPanthers Stanley Cup ring. The Panthers will likely win more Cups in the future, but this will be my last as a Legacy STH. With a heavy heart, I decided not to renew my season tickets after the sudden passing of my husband in January. 1/2

It really shouldn't matter, but I'm still troubled that McDavid was given the MVP of a tournament his team didn't win. And he wasn't very good in the gold medal game, I might add. Hellebuyck, meanwhile, was brilliant and the clear MVP of the tournament. Voting was completed after the first period. This is painfully stupid. Were the votes delivered to the Olympic Committee by the Pony Express or something? I have voted for the Conn Smythe winner numerous times and that vote is always required midway through the third period of any potentially clinching game. That, too, is ridiculous. It's 2026. We have cell phones. Wifi. Texting. Emailing. I don't see why votes can't be received and immediately tabulated when a game ends. Alright, I'm done. I just think the whole thing is stupid beyond comprehension.

@1panthers You don’t need cap space to get a third pair defenseman. We have plenty of cap space to get a guy at a league minimum.

It’s very sad to watch as a season ticket holder that @FlaPanthers went from winning 2 Stanley Cups in a row to become a poverty franchise in less than 7 months and our general manager @bzitojr sitting there not even trying to make a move. We’ve needed a 3rd pair defenseman and a depth winger for 3 months now. Instead, we’re rolling out guys that are not NHL ready whatsoever on our fourth line and backup defenseman who are unplayable. And then to get gaslighted the other night at the season ticket holder meeting that we have all these players in Charlotte. None of them are ready to play in the NHL. Meanwhile, there’s 3rd pair defenseman somewhere in the entire NHL that we could’ve traded for to bolster our defense when Kulikov got hurt. The team isn’t even being put in the position to defend back-to-back Stanley Cup championships since all the injuries took place. The only thing missing from the puff piece STH meeting the other night was waving a white flag. Oh, and a super shout out to @TKACHUKycheese_ for taking the extra three weeks to put his surgery off. He should’ve been back in early January.
