Our 'monkey up' question today. I was surprised to hear a lot of 'my mom/dad wants___, but I want___'. I thanked the kiddos for their bravery in sharing what THEY want. And we all laughed when monkey's answer (via Melania) was to be a banana eating contestant! #RiosFirsties

First question of the day - 'Mrs. Smith, do you know it is #NationalBananaDay?' 🍌 Um...no I did not, but now I do! *& then I realized that I may have passed on my joy of celebrating national food days to my kiddos* *& we decided today should be @1stGradeMonkey's birthday!*

After taste testing and comparing #RedVines to #Smarties, we wrote our opinion about which one we thought was the best, then voted. And the winner is....RedVines! Happy #NationalLicoriceDay! And thank you @redvines for being so yummy! #RiosFirsties
