@lorsehatitudes @butterfield2006 They have tangible benefits of putting something back - I.e. favourable opinions towards expansion of their business in the region in the future

@butterfield2006 @1uke28 They’re a business whose leaders have a fiduciary responsibility to deliver value to shareholders (capitalism fucking sucks). If “putting something back in” was raised at a board meeting, whoever raised it would be laughed out of the room (and probably sacked)

It genuinely breaks my brain to imagine what 1400 hours of annual sunshine must be like to live in. When going to college in Chicago, I really struggled with the seemingly endless gray of the winters. Chicago gets 2500 sunshine hours!
