@MapleLeaves34 I'm tired of these posts. They lead to Minten to Boston for Carlo because "we can't win unless....", then McMann gone, Laughton gone, Marner gone, Dubas gone, Keefe gone. All to chase a Cup that the league won't let us win. Go root for the Panthers and leave Toronto alone.

I hate to break it to everyone, but you're not winning a Cup with William Nylander as one of your top 2 players. 4 points in a meaningless regular season game doesnt change anything for me. Do that in playoffs once in a while and maybe I'd have a different opinion.

@ldl716 The NHL Leaf bias is real and fully evident last night. Toronto wont be able to trade/hire/draft a Stanley Cup team until Bettman allows it. Meanwhile we dismantled one of the most talented, explosive teams to watch in decades on a fool's errand.

Never seen anything like the way this league treats the Leafs. On any other team, Pezzetta doesn’t come close to getting thrown out for that. It really is like they don’t want the Leafs playing tough. Compare this to how Florida is governed. Blatantly different set of rules.

@spittinchiclets Anybody complaining about Maple Leafs being soft, this is the reason. As soon as Toronto shows up, they’re kicked from the game and penalized . NHL brings in Leaf hater Wes McCauley and Parros to make sure Toronto is neutered. Panthers pull this crap every game no issue.

@mots_myers @IQTestBrain No, it’s not. It’s 110. Look at it another way - the remaining 2 angles, without X, are 30 and 40. 180 - 30 - 40 = X 110 = X

@Dianna10076988 @johnnymaga This is an idiotic take on the purpose of tariffs. The consumer isn’t “owed’ cheaper priced goods. Remember the “ buy American” campaign? Trump is trying to protect jobs, you’re protecting China.

The refunds should go to American citizens, since they are who was harmed. The core legal argument here was pretty straightforward: these tariffs weren't really "penalties" slapped on foreign companies. They were actually "indirect taxes" that ended up hitting American families right in the wallet. The companies suing basically admitted as much in their own words. Check out some of the things they said: "indirect taxes on goods... pulled directly from the pockets of American parents and schools" "had no choice but to pass costs to the consumer to survive" In other words, if a company is openly saying they had to pass the costs along to stay alive—“a matter of pure survival”—they’re basically confessing they were just the middleman. The real people paying the tax? Everyday American consumers. Chief Justice Roberts put it even more bluntly in the 6-3 majority opinion. He basically agreed with the companies, saying the power to "regulate" imports doesn’t give the government the "extraordinary power to tax" the American people. Once the companies leaned so hard on the “this hurts consumers” angle to make their case, they kind of painted themselves into a corner on standing. If the harm is falling on American citizens like they insist, and not the companies themselves—then the companies aren’t the ones who were actually injured. The citizens were. They don’t get to pass on costs and then get refunds. And since these tariffs hit lower-income families the hardest, any money that comes back from this (tariff revenue, refunds, whatever) should go straight to the people who need it most—split equally among everyone 16 and older making under $60k. Fair’s fair. Hoping Trump leans hard on this🙏

These are the scumbags responsible for bringing the case against Trump’s tariffs. The Woldenberg family who owns Illinois-based ‘Learning Resources’ and imports Chinese toys to sell for steep profits. “We’d like our money back.” Everyone should boycott this business.

@EricinAmericaX @WallStreetApes You're an idiot, the non- partisan citizens group drew the congressional maps for California 2 years ago, thats what we voted for. Newsome and the scam Prop 50 just re-drew that map, specifically to scrap Republican districts. He should be in prison.

Reality here... Let's start by noting the difference between what occurred in California as opposed to Texas. In Texas, the redistricting process is inherently partisan and legislature controlled. Texas Republicans took it upon themselves to unilaterally redraw maps mid census, and final approval came from the governor. But in CA, the process is different because it is designed to be nonpartisan; redistricting is handled by an independent commission. So any attempt to redraw maps in CA requires both a vote from the legislature and the people. Additionally, the redistricting is only temporary. Voters came out in droves to vote overwhelmingly in favor of proposition 50, election data shows that some counties that voted for Trump in 2024 also supported prop 50. Meaning that even some Trump voters backed the measure. Is Newsom's response to Texas controversial? According to Republicans who want disproportionate control over gerrymandering of course. But in this moment, responding tit for tat to such a branzenly partisan redistricting effort is an effective, acceptable and common sense strategy More importantly, because in one state you have lawmakers deciding who their voters are without any checks against their authority, and in another, the decision is ultimately left up to a vote while the newly drawn maps are temporary—this juxtaposition helps illustrate the difference between authoritarianism and democracy. That said, if gerrymandering were eliminated and all maps were drawn equitably and fairly by independent commissions, Democrats would most likely benefit from it, but if the US were gerrymandered to the maximum extent possible, Republicans would likely benefit most. I think this says a lot about how Republicans have taken advantage of voter geography over the years. Democrats benefit from fair maps, Republicans benefit from extreme gerrymandering. It's about urban vs rural voter distribution and Democrats being more vulnerable to gerrymandering because they are typically concentrated in one densely populated area. It's also about how Republicans have been benefitting from gerrymandering due to their disparate control over state legislatures, and thus control over redistricting. Like in Texas where they've granted themselves the unanswerable authority to decide who their voters are and not the other way around. Analyses show that when states have fair maps, drawn by independent commissions, representation is more evenly split—especially in Republican controlled states where Democrats gain seats when they otherwise wouldn't due to partisan redistricting efforts. When those same states are gerrymandered to hell, Republicans win more seats. The GOP is capitalizing on this opportunity to consolidate power for the foreseeable future. Which means that their redistricting wars and voter suppression efforts will be ongoing, and the more this continues, the more it will chip away at the democratic process. In order to address this, gerrymandering practices must be eliminated, and redistricting must be left up to independent commissions in every state. The Citizens United ruling and our campaign finance system are also major obstacles standing in the way of free and fair elections. The rich and corporations have disproportionate control over the outcomes of our elections and far too much political influence, and there's no denying that Republicans are the party of the billionaire class. What's needed to address these problems are: 1. A complete overhaul of how our elections and candidate's campaigns are funded. 2. Significant campaign finance reforms that necessitate 100% transparency, publicly funded campaigns and predominant grassroots support, and massive regulations on Super PACs, lobbyists and political advocacy groups. 3. An end to Citizens United. (1/2)

@mnmfan76 I'm thinking Berube discourages this style of play, which may be why Leafs are struggling. They can all do this, would like to do this, but don't want to get benched. Max is fighting for a spot so had no choice but to shake n' bake. I hope they all start going for it.

William Nylander had a career high in goals and Mitch Marner had a career high in points playing in Bérubé’s system so were those players not put in a position to succeed last year or does that narrative only apply to this season (when the players stopped trying)? #LeafsForever
