@200Flashy @bibiiking11 OP is abt fighting systems-oppressive governments/monarchies/slave trades. Obviously there are villains within the systems, but the crew fights for ideals. HxH is about conflicting character motivations not fighting systems (sans election arc)

hxh worldbuilding seems more impressive than one piece for me (don't take this as op slander cause it's my 2nd fav worldbuilding)

@200Flashy @bibiiking11 Yeah OP is also “make up as go along” to some extent, with Haki being the biggest example. It’s just also not the main power system (devil fruits) at the center. My point is HxH worldbuilding is a (well executed) afterthought. OP’s world systems are the main conflict

@theedandy @bibiiking11 Buddy haki was introduced when? And it’s notoriously inconsistent. Nen being introduced late works for the narrative as we finally see how people like hisoka unravel.

@bibiiking11 I love both, but hxh’s worldbuilding strikes me as more “making up as we go along” than OP. Nen is introduced way late, countries a wholly imported over from real life etc. OP’s world feels like *the point* of the story. Hxh’s world feels like it does what it needs to per chapter

Agreed. Elbaf has provided so much clarity on the supposed "diminishing quality" of the series & Oda's pen to me. It's mostly just noise. Nothing is above criticism & the arc isn't perfect, but Oda's prowess for writing has not diminished in the slightest. He's just had to alter how he writes for health & time management reasons. And this is why I don't understand why ppl have an issue with Oda's pacing. This arc has been basically non-stop banger reveals & lore since the lego land opening that ironically had ppl bitching it was moving too slow. Atp Oda can only write 30-35 chapters a year. It is what it is. It sucks, but it's reality. He needs a ton of breaks. At the start of the post-timeskip he didn't. Thus he was capable of 40-45. So the pace just logically had to speed up for the 5-15 chapter difference per year since he's constricted to 17 pages per chapter & bro is in his 50 as opposed to his early 30s. But this run in Elbaf has been PHENOMENAL. Mfs talk about wanting "pre-timeskip Oda back"....but the mf never left. He had to figure shit out in real time in Wano so it felt a bit disjointed at points, but bro's pen didn't diminish. THIS ARC alone he's dropped a BANGER of a reunion scene/chapter with Robin/Saul, a game changing mural with the most overt foreshadowing in the series history, introduced arguably the coldest side character since Law with Loki, introduced the Shanks evil twin, cheffed Elbaf lore, & Loki's backstory on our head in combination with dropping the GV flashback. A flashback where he wrote Rocks so flawlessly he arguably became the greatest FB character ever. Surpassing pre-timeskip GOATs like Noland, Bellemere, Hiriluk AND post-timeskip GOATs like Corazon, Fisher T, & Oden. And now just dropped the 1st or 2nd coldest character introduction chapter (only competition is 795 with Kaidou) in the entire series. But bc Elbaf is not a pre-timeskip fully dedicated Usopp arc like Syrup Village/semi-dedicated Usopp arc like WCI was for Sanji & GV was Marineford 2.0 in terms of clashes instead of fights he get slandered weekly as being washed. And he's called washed by mfs who read the series primarily to powerscale & push agenda or don't have the patience to read weekly with breaks. This increased pacing isn't ideal for ppl who want slow burn crew-centric arcs where the SHs ALL get fights & dedicated story arcs like the majority of the pre-timeskip...but even BEFORE he started slowing down in 2020 Oda wasn't doing that shit. It's clear now, 16 years later; that the crew was fully developed as characters within the narrative when 3D2Y occurred & concluded. The post-timeskip was about expanding the world of OP so that the climax felt as large in scale as possible. Not continuing the development of the crew as characters. As for "Clash Piece"? I mean....it's valid criticism to a degree. But Ima be real, Op was always the weakest of the big 3 in terms of fights & if you ACTUALLY go back & read pre-TS OP with the same lens you currently read OP weekly, you'll discover Oda been a high key clash merchant his entire career. For better (Marineford) or worse (HUGE chunks of Skypiea). It just seems more prevalent now bc the scale is so much bigger & mfs REALLY wanna see fight THEY (not Oda) hyped for half a decade+
