@mostserene True but it allows for the displacement of capital expenses to debt over many years which frees up operational dollars. A quick search says the district has expenditures of almost $20,000 a child but the results don’t match the expenditures.

Such a great explanation of why vouchers are terrible for schools and should vouchers be adopted are likely to lead to lower educational attainment for students.

We need more money even though we just issued a billion dollar bond all the while a third party says we have leadership issues, internal trust issues and budget mismanagement issues. Make it make sense.

@KellyRasti Privilege in either race or wealth. SAISD boundaries haven’t resulted in the racial diversity of a district the size of HISD. SAISD inequities have been wealth driven in my experience.

@KellyRasti The most prevalent example was HISD. District created multiple magnets w academic admission requirements were put in place as a way to “filter” out students and create a space for affluent white families who we opting out of district. Many examples still exist in San Antonio.

@KellyRasti You still have representation at the state not local level. Local boards have proven to be a terrible in SA. Any school receiving vouchers should have to take standardized test and have uniform enrollment policy.

@dilloncollier I am a parent. I have also heard the district uses secret messaging program to hide texts from public.

This is complete BS! The public shouldn’t have to fight to get public information. What is SAISD hiding?
