My neighbour, who’s a lifelong Man United fan, told me he woke up devastated this morning after seeing what he called the “naive” way Man United are treating Ronaldo.
He said he can’t believe they’re slandering Ronaldo for Bruno Fernandes, a player who led them to two European final defeats, a player whose biggest trophies with the club are the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, and a player who nearly led them into a relegation battle.
He said he can’t believe that a club which once dominated English football and won countless titles now celebrates an assist record held by what he considers the worst captain in United’s history as if it were a trophy.
I consoled him and told him that if the mentality of the fanbase changes, the glory days will return ❤️
