Barry, who was unarmed and lost while delivering food, approached Reilly’s home on Valerie Drive to ask for directions after his phone died. He asked to charge his phone outside but was told to leave. As Barry drove away in his Toyota Corolla, Reilly fired three shots from his yard. The third bullet struck Barry in the back, causing serious injuries including partial intestine removal and a temporary colostomy bag. Reilly was acquitted of attempted murder but convicted Thursday of first-degree assault and multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The jury deliberated for three days before reaching the verdict in Orange County Court.
