PHEVs are different from Normal Hybrid Cars. In PHEVs…while driving, you can chose between the electric drive train only or the internal combustion engine only but in this particular BYD. Both of the power trains can work simultaneously to give you maximum power. The engine isn’t charging the battery that’s why the term “plug-in” applies. You charge it like a normal electric car. When you run out of battery power…your petrol engine takes over
