Meet Shri @gpsinghips sir, one of India’s most decorated police officers & the current DG of @crpfindia. A 1991-batch IPS officer of the Assam–Meghalaya cadre, he began his policing journey in Assam in 1992, at a time when the state and the entire Northeast were witnessing intense insurgency. (Wikipedia) In his early years (1992–early 2000s), he served in key field postings such as Sonitpur, Rangia, and Nalbari, where he actively participated in counter-insurgency operations in Lower Assam. He later went on to serve as SP in Jorhat, Guwahati, and Barpeta, leading operations that even succeeded without Army support in certain areas—an achievement that reflected both strategic depth and ground-level leadership. (The secretariat) An Assam–Meghalaya cadre officer, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional efficiency and leadership in handling insurgency and maintaining law and order across the state. The youth of Assam witnessed his capability closely when the government brought him back from deputation in 2019 to manage the anti-CAA protests with remarkable control and professionalism. (The secretariat) This time as well, he has used his vast experience and sharp judgment to ensure effective deployment of CRPF personnel across West Bengal, contributing to free and fair elections. The results were visible in the form of one of the highest polling percentages in the state. GP Singh remains one of my most admired officers. During his tenure as ADGP and later as DGP of Assam Police, he stayed personally connected with citizens through digital platforms and was always accessible in times of need. I still remember how he personally responded to several requests of mine to ensure timely assistance for elderly citizens across Guwahati during the COVID period. You will always remain an inspiration of intelligence, dedication, and efficiency.
