Today is the date of Newcomen's death. He was the inventor of the first practical steam engine from which all subsequent steam engines developed the one that drove the industrial revolution. Fischer first saw an English steam engine in Stockholm in 1794: johannconradfischer.com/en/1794/1

In late July 1825, Fischer returned to Schaffhausen from his second long journey to England in the usual "diligence". Some highlights from that journey include his first meeting with Faraday and the debut of his Meteor Steel in England. Check it out at johannconradfischer.com/de/1825/1
