Big life update; I've started working as the composer on #ShortlandStreet Having just celebrated its 31st birthday it is the longest-running drama on NZ TV. The show airs on weeknights, so I write music for a whooping 5 episodes each week. My episodes start airing tonight!

Really happy to share the soundtrack album Shortland Street - Original Score Highlights 2024. The #ShortlandStreet social media tea put together a short video to celebrate the release, with looking back at a few musical highlights matched to scenes from the show.

@viusmusic Super stoked to be able to articulate something helpful. I can certainly relate to the mission statement. My mission with my recent work, has been to write the kind of music that makes me feel things, that I hope I would scribble down the name of if I had never heard it before

In other words, I've found a tangible identity for all of the pieces I've written (and will write) for live orchestra - a "mission statement" of sorts. I didn't know how much I needed that until very recently. So thanks heaps for the kind words William, they mean the world ♥️

Upon listening to a demo of my recently-completed orchestral commission, a friend remarked that "it's the kind of piece that makes people fall in love with orchestral music." On hearing those words, I realized that this is what I've ALWAYS wanted my orchestral work to do. [1/3]

@LOST_Oceanic Hearing this awesome score by @m_giacchino, while I was a teenager was probably the reason I pursued a career in music for TV.

@kuhpunkt The underscore also doesn't sound like Giacchino. It feels very wrong for Lost.

@TheFilmScorer The Gladiator score was co-composed by Lisa Gerrard, not sure why she hasn’t been credited here.

Last night’s episode of #ShortlandStreet featured a musical montage during its finale. Here is a BTS snapshot of playing the cello lines I recorded for the montage— I ended up editing together a number of takes, transforming them, and doubling them with synths. @ShortlandTweet

Lost History: 20 years ago today the sound crew (Frank Morrone, Scott Weber and Tom de Gorter among others) got a few more days to finish the sound mixing for the Lost pilot. linktr.ee/815doc
