“Seeing the world as it is”, unironically: EU has leverage over the US and even over China; Russia is a flailing wreck, not an imminent threat; if EU issues join liabilities at scale it can outspend anyone.
This is by choice and is driven by self-serving and ignorant notions of European impotence held by a political elite that is either totally blinded or interested only in their own personal vicinity to imperial power.
