@JonAlba I lived through an entire season NHL lockout. The results were worth the sacrifice. Baseball needs a similar restart. The present system is unsustainable.

Anyone cheering for an MLB lockout should not be taken seriously.

To the “any other team could have made a bigger bid for Skubal” crowd: Well, sure. But keeping top prospects is going to become more important as years go by in this system because no one can spend the money that the Dodgers can spend. And no one is going to out-bid them in free agency. It’s a losing battle against them on multiple levels. If teams unload their top prospects for a short term fix, most are screwed in the long run. But not the Dodgers. They’re bullet proof in that regard. Everyone knew Skubal was signing with them this winter anyway. So why give up your top prospects to have him for two months, when the Dodgers are probably going to win the World Series anyway?

7/30 🤔’s on a rainy ☔️ morning Going through my 2019 journal and I reread an entry I write after I was fired. My good friend Mike Deegan shared this with me…. @CoachDeegan Final Thoughts:

The discussion of being fired comes with a scarlet letter.  I believe many people suffer in silence thinking they are the only ones going through difficult patches. No one is going to post on Facebook, “Met with my boss today. I have this Quarter to improve or I’m done.”  We think we are alone and that just isn’t the case.

The world needs strong leaders who have standards and values.  If we have the courage to lead issues will develop. I’ve made a choice that I am going to be true to myself as a leader.  That means accusations and confrontation will likely follow. Unfortunately, this may put me and my family in tough situations.  I’ll focus on the next play and respond in a positive manner. I refuse to live in fear and I am not willing to comprise my standards.

@DJSnM But Elon's "business model" needs more flights than that. It's the little stuff in spaceflight that gets in the way.

It would suck if spaceX had to remove and reapply the tiles on Starship after every flight. Last time we watched them do that it took 2 weeks. That would mean Starship reflight would *only* be 4 times faster than the Space Shuttle.

Tough day, tough news regarding Bob McElligott, who has been part of the organization as a play-by-play voice since joining forces with the legendary George Matthews in 2009. @BobbyMacSports has been grinding long before he reached the NHL. Excited to see where he lands.
