He actually never bought anything with that money. He did regret betraying Jesus, so he threw the money into the temple, which was used to buy the potter’s field. However, there was a symbolic reason behind what he did. 30 pieces of silver were the price of a slave; him selling out Jesus like that symbolised how little/cheaply Jesus was valued. The 30 pieces fulfilled Zechariah’s prophecy that pieces of silver thrown into the temple will buy the potter’s field. The point was that the world may undervalue what is holy, but God still brings purpose, prophecy, and redemption out of human failure.

Issa Tchiroma wasn’t voted because he’s loved by Cameroonians. We know he’s been part of the system and for that, we believe he’s stubborn enough to topple the regime with a force of the people behind him. It’s not the time for plenty eloquent talk but real stubbornness. Biya, over the last 43 years has built a stronghold that revolves around keeping him up there no matter what, and to pull that down, you need real madness. I think the Cameroonian people saw that madness in Tchiroma. For now, the force must continually push him up until he sits there. Once Biya and his gang have been defeated, it would be more easier to beat Tchiroma afterwards.
