Honestly, most mangaka should have this mindset. To me its fine to extend gestures of goodwill to a grateful and genuine fanbase who followed your works because they appreciate what you do. At the end of the day however, you as the creator do what you PERSONALLY think is right for you. If your fans are truly your fans, they should respect what you want and not force or demand that you cater to their every whim.

They want Black creators to create the version of Blackness THEY personally approve of.
