THREAD: I recently finished tweaking a data science project with a goal of identifying the ideal metric to evaluate an RB's rushing performance, isolating individual play as much as possible. Here’s the final formula: RBIS = (MTF/Attempt * 10) + YAC/ATT - (YBC/Attempt/2)

@TheSportsminn @2HighCoverage That was the original point yes but that’s not what he said in the second tweet, I also think that’s not accurate according to what happened in the game which is why I showed the clip showing plays that happened very close together and was told they were cherry picked

Never seen a series like this in my life. OKC is allowed to grab, tug, yank, flop, and hack Wemby and the Spurs all game long while the Spurs are not allowed to make seemingly any contact. Awful look for the NBA.

Off ball linebacker should be his highest value position. The size in coverage to affect crossing lanes and matchup with big tight ends/jumbo slots is quite nice to have.

As brutal as Randle was in these playoffs, we don’t need to act like the KAT trade was a mistake. Beyond being financially necessary, it got the Wolves DiVincenzo and Beringer in addition to Randle, whose deal they should be able to move this summer. I’m happy for KAT’s success in NY, but the East and West are not comparable. Wolves would’ve also crushed ATL and PHI this year, and having KAT wouldn’t have changed how either of their last two seasons ended. Let’s not forget how bad he was in that Dallas series.

@JBaileyNFL Agreed Phillips was an overpay but it’s still a big improvement. Would argue Tet is a near S tier talent. But regardless there is a wide gap between that and 3-14..,

@2HighCoverage Love Devin Lloyd. Don’t love Phillips and they tremendously overpaid for him. The offense has no S-tier talent and a quarterback with a hard, low ceiling and a run game that lacks any stars. I just don’t see many positives.

Finally got around to producing the 2026 RB Class' RBIS Scores. If you aren't familiar with RBIS, it's a rushing metric for RBs that blends MTF/Att and YAC/Att then stabilizes with YBC/Att. The intent is to isolate RBs from OL/Scheme as best as possible. Here are the top 15:

The problem with the logic of all of these people that assume it’s Kyler’s job is they aren’t leaving room for potential improvement. No one is arguing the baseline average of McCarthy in ‘24-‘25 beats out Kyler… but if that guy takes a step it gets interesting if not so be it.
