People like Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and the entire Democratic Socialist wing love blaming people like Elon Musk for winning in a capitalist system.
That’s the part that drives me crazy.
Elon didn’t wake up with Tesla and SpaceX handed to him. He went all in. He risked everything. He was sleeping on factory floors trying to keep those companies alive when most people would’ve quit.
Now he wins, and the same people who claim America is the land of opportunity want to punish him for actually taking advantage of the opportunity.
They’ll tell you he’s a trillionaire like he has that sitting in a checking account. They know exactly what they’re doing. A lot of that wealth is on paper, tied to the companies he built, the jobs he created, and the risk he took.
But they frame it like he’s hoarding cash under a mattress because it makes people angry.
That’s the game.
These politicians fail the American people, offer no real path forward, then point at Elon and other successful people and tell you they’re the reason your life is hard.
Not the broken system they helped create.
Not the taxes they keep raising.
Not the spending they never control.
Not the fact that they want more people dependent on government instead of helping them become independent.
They don’t want you chasing the American dream.
They want you angry at the people who did.

Can we please clarify the difference between liquid cash and net worth?
@elonmusk’s net worth is mostly tied up in Tesla and SpaceX stock — shares that only become cash if he sells them. Taxing someone’s net worth (or unrealized gains) doesn’t magically pull money out of thin air. It would force massive stock sales to pay the bill, which would flood the market, tank the share price, and wipe out value for millions of everyday investors, pension funds, and retirement accounts holding the same stock.
Being “worth” a trillion on paper is very different from having a trillion sitting in a bank account. This is basic economics and accounting, but it keeps getting ignored in these debates.
