When young people marry, the man marries the woman she IS, while the woman marries the man he should BECOME. Dissatisfaction occurs when she changes too much, and when he changes too little.

Web designers are cooked. I know zero code but I built and deployed 10 web pages today into a live environment for my team to review and comment on. I already had the copy but everything else built in just a couple hours through the CLI interface. That includes 5 or more rounds of edits. Totally and completely cooked. It makes edits as fast as it writes you an email. I’ll give it ten changes and they are live in 20 seconds. Refresh the pages and there they are. That would be a 48 hour turn for my web designers and they would act like they are doing me a favor. Absolutely incredible. From an idea to a reality in minutes. Probably a $5k build that I got for $20 in a platform subscription and another $20 worth of Claude time.

You know how engineers are stereotypically antisocial and hang in their basements all day coding rather than meeting chicks? Yeah, I get it now. Vibe coding with Claude and openclaw sucks you in and it’s hard to pull away.

On @theallinpod @MattMahanSJ was sounding amazing until he went off the rails and claimed housing costs are a big contributor to homelessness. How about the industrial complex enabling homelessness? How about differentiating between chronic homelessness and the transitory kind. It’s not a housing issue. It’s a mental illness issue.

If you’re not a Republican voter in California, I kindly ask that you refrain from commenting on our gubernatorial candidates and let us decide who we will support, and then help support who we vote for. The @CAGOP meets next month. Thank you for your interest.

Socialism picking up steam: Our world will increasingly divide into two camps. Those who produce and those who feed off of their production. The latter group will expand until there’s no political will to defend the minority producers. Our system allows the same voice for those who pay taxes and those who consume taxes. Unless we rewrite this system, giving those who contribute a greater degree of control, our nation will devolve into chaos, eating itself, spending on expediency rather than investing in the future.

Peter Thiel on selling Facebook $META stock too early: “The incorrect view I had back in 2012 was… that going from $100B to $1T was much harder. In retrospect, going from $100B to $1T was maybe the easiest.” “The biggest mistake people make is never making mistakes.”

.@PalmerLuckey explains why Anthropic’s position is wrong: “Imagine if I said. ‘I would never sell to [some] country the US works with.’ How could the US ever rely on me? And if they get into a position where they have to rely on me— I end up with more power than the President.” “People have tried to push back and say, ‘Palmer, you do have a responsibility to have a position beyond that of Congress because no one held Dick Cheney to account for lying about weapons of mass destruction.’” “My point is— now you’re describing a flawed democracy. The fact someone wasn’t held to account just means America didn’t want to hold him to account.” “Who am I to… that’s almost spookier— ‘Oh, I’m going to be the guy that holds Dick Cheney accountable.’ No.” “There is a lot of power that rests with defense industry executives. That is WHY we need to stick to a position that this is in the hands of the people. It cannot be any other way.” “Anyone who says a defense company should be going beyond the law and beyond what legislators and elected leaders say— you’re effectively saying you do not believe in this democratic experiment and that you want a corporatocracy.” Via @nypost

Dario Amodei on why Americans should trust Anthropic over elected officials, and why he thinks Anthropic knows better: “In the long run, we need to have a democratic conversation. In the long run, I believe it’s Congress’ job.” “But Congress is not the fastest moving body in the world.” “I can’t say what their plans are. We have no evidence these use cases have run into trouble.”

There’s now two fees. The fee to the vendor, and the fee to the human for the privilege of being served by a biological entity rather than a mechanical one. Get used to this for any job that isn’t automated.

Bought a coffee this morning Black, no milk, no syrup Someone poured liquid into a cup Took eleven seconds Then she flipped the iPad around 30% 35% 40% For a $6 coffee that took eleven seconds to make The line behind me was six deep All watching 30% is the new 0% Everyone knows it Nobody says it I pressed custom Typed $0 The barista looked at me The guy behind me looked at me My wife looked at the ceiling We left Went to lunch after Waiter brought water and bread without being asked Took our order Checked on us twice Refilled drinks Cleared plates I tipped 25% My wife said "you just gave the waiter 25% and the barista nothing" I said "correct" She stared at me I said "one of them did a job. The other one turned an iPad around." She took the check out of my hands After lunch we stopped for frozen yogurt The kids served themselves Picked their own toppings Weighed their own cups I paid by the ounce Then the screen flipped around 35% 40% 45% I looked at my seven-year-old who had just done the entire job I pressed no tip The teenager behind the counter didn't blink She already knew My wife grabbed my arm and walked me out In the car she was quiet Then she said "I can never take you anywhere" I said "just not the places with iPads" She didn't laugh But she didn't disagree Tipping used to mean something Now it's just a screen that guilt-trips you in front of strangers I don't negotiate against myself Not at work Not at a frozen yogurt shop Plz fix. Thx. Sent from my iPhone

You can’t hire a head of acquisition for an in person role. There are so few of them. They are in such demand. And, most importantly, it can be your most expensive hire. A bad head of ops might spend $6 on fulfillment instead of $5 A bad sourcing manager might spend $20 per unit instead of $17 But a bad head of growth can spend $14,000,000 this year on branded search because Google shows a high roas If you NEED them to be in person- You need to train them. Homegrown them. If you need someone to step in? It’s fully remote and your highest paid person
