This morning while at the taxi tank, I overhead someone ask the Taxi Rank Guy what he thought of Helen Zille. Below was his response: " Beyond the institutional backing Helen Zille and by extension the DA gets from Captains of White Greed , she boasts of a unique and interesting character trait. What she has achieved for the DA , few DA members could come closer to her. She is unapologetically white, racist, and anti black. That disposition informs her modus operandi in how she manages racism as a political and economic tool. When she negotiates for power, white supremacy is always her basic point of departure ,and she seldom moves from that position. Helen Zille is a constant reminder that we need more black people to become to the black population what she is to the white population. We need Africans who are going to become unapologetic about their blackness, about seeking redress for colonial injustices, about pursuing equitable distribution of wealth, and about serving interests of black people. For the avoidance of any doubt, in a functional society, equitable distribution of wealth means ensuring that the means of production are in firmly in the hands of people who make up the bulk of the population. Until black people adopt the Helen Zille attitude, South Africa will continue to run as a dysfunctional state where 4% control 80% means of production. It cannot be that black people have been relegated to pursuing debt driven riches at the expense of wealth ownership. How many Family Offices exist within the black population? How many Private Wealth Funds are run by black people? The answer is zero precisely because the wealth is on our ground but never in our hands. Helen Zille is a necessary irritant that serves as a stark reminder that black people are living the life of dispossession. Her arrogance could be utilized as a catalyst to inform rebellious attitudes amongst black people as a shift from comformity. Helen Zille is a woman on top who has gotten the cajoles of ANC men in a knot - all they have to do is redeem their manhood by putting the interests of the black population first..."
