People will scream to the top of their lungs that the fetus-shaped parasite the female protagonist was unwillingly stuck with that can only be removed by a doctor hated by the religious society is 100% literal and totally not a metaphor.

@CravePillows @Platinuro @updarabbithole @SomaticHorrors if it's only a critique of religion, then please tell me which religions have made people work on factory lines to produce valuable commodities the workers do not themselves have access to in order to earn small amounts of money, like the guy in the image above

@CravePillows @updarabbithole @SomaticHorrors no, it's a jab at capitalism because of many of the reasons I've already mentioned. it's also a jab at following leaders and in people having lost free will. these are entirely compatible with an anti-capitalist reading. it's both anti-capitalist and anti-(organised) religious

@Dantethebanned2 @BAmorfa @CaleoKathline no no I'm of the opinion that some people definitely should kill themselves. but if you were part of the hate mob that drove him to suicide, you're telling me you wouldn't feel a thing? I have difficult feelings even about those I actually think are better off dead

@2niposting @BAmorfa @CaleoKathline Not caring about a random asshole committing suicide is a nothing burger and not an indication of anyone’s principle. You’re literally making up an argument to be as performative as possible. That’s a great principle you carry

@Marmik__ @Courier1138 @Alison_is_lost it's shot gorgeously, the drama is gripping, the characters are so wonderfully layered and three dimensional. it's also happy to accept its identity as primarily a detective show and psychological drama rather than trying to force an action formula.

@2niposting @Courier1138 @Alison_is_lost I would say it's peak fiction. They have female protagonist with genuine relatable flaws they gracefully implemented mind control, free will David Tenant and Kristten Ritter nailed their roles as well

@CravePillows @updarabbithole @SomaticHorrors hoarding money/rosaries? encouraged by capitalism. an inability to ascend in the hierarchy and reach the *literal and metaphorical* top of society? lack of class mobility. and marx talks extensively about how capitalism harms the bourgeoisie and creates its own destruction

@BAmorfa @CaleoKathline so you have no principles to speak of, cool. bullying people to suicide is Based so long as you don't like the person dying

@moejomma @AmadeusBolshev I'm not saying anything about Trotskyism Vs mlism. just that MLM Sabrina's take is factually, not interpretatively, wrong. lenin did wait for Bolshevik popularity before the October revolution. the people were not - and are not - ready!

@cloudyyygems @fishstickwsauce if a character in a piece of media has been a slave, that piece of media is not immediately endorsing slavery. in fact, it's usually the other way round. it's a more responsible and woke piece of art for acknowledging the struggles of black people in 60s new York than ignoring it

@cloudyyygems @fishstickwsauce yes, because I am able to see how different depictions of things depict different things differently. because context matters, the way it is presented matters. they may do it correctly, they may not!!
