If the freekick was taken and they had scored then the goal would 100% have been disallowed, as all 4 Fulham players were offside as per VAR screenshot showed. Not a penalty! Poor decision

@rasjjr6 @Phil__Smith Those ifs and buts are exactly how the rules WOULD and DID play out. Had a goal been scored by an onside player a review woulda been had and no, it's not certain it would have been denied. We've certainly had players much more involved in action not be determined interfering.

@Phil__Smith Eh?? He is surely active the second the freekick is taken and he moves (in offside position) towards the ball. The offside has to have happened before the foul was committed.

@joelewins @Phil__Smith not technically offside until he's deemed to have interfered with play. If ball passed him for example and another player scores who was onside, it's possibly a goal assuming hes not deemed to have intefered.... but he didn't get to it becuase he was fouled... so , penalty

@Phil__Smith How could the foul be committed before he was offside he was off as soon as the ball was kicked and only then did Brobby pull his shirt therefore according to the rules he was offside

@RejectedBook @FA_PGMOL No need, watch replay - shirts already being pulled before the balls kicked therefore the foul begins before Bassey is deemed "active" as offside anyway, and therefore thats the infraction that takes precedence. Frustrating if you're a Sunderland fan for sure,but, its a penalty.
