Yet accountability never arrives. The protection never stops. What’s buried under the rubble isn’t just flesh and bone—it is the entire truth, and justice swallowed whole.

#RayoVallecano reached the UEFA Conference League final. The modest club from Vallecas also has an incredible supporters group called Bukaneros. Some of the memorable actions carried out by Bukaneros in recent years: 📌In 2017, Bukaneros blocked the transfer of Ukrainian footballer Roman Zozulya, who supported neo-nazis. Photos of Zozulya wearing clothes with far-right symbols and his support for the Ukrainian army led supporters to launch the campaign “We don’t want fascists in our club.” Fans displayed banners saying “There is no place for fascists in Vallecas” at the training ground. The Ukrainian player was forced to return to Real Betis, the club that had loaned him out. 📌Santiago Abascal, the leader of Spain’s far-right VOX party, and other party officials came to watch a Rayo Vallecano match. The day after the game, Bukaneros members and some supporters went to the stadium wearing white protective suits and carrying disinfectants and cleaning materials. They symbolically “cleaned” the seats where VOX members had sat and the stadium entrance. With this action, they declared that the stadium and the club had been “contaminated by far-right ideas” and that the neighborhood did not accept those views. 📌The supporters group had been in solidarity with Palestine for many years, but since the genocide in Gaza they became one of the groups giving the biggest support to Palestine alongside Celtic’s Green Brigade. Palestinian tifos and banners were frequently displayed in the stands. The group also organized various aid campaigns. 📌When Bukaneros traveled to Greece for the Conference League match against AEK Athens, they visited the spot where Alexis Grigoropoulos, who was killed by police at the age of 15, was shot. 📌Although Bukaneros is a supporters group made up of Spaniards, unlike Spanish nationalists they have very good relations with supporter communities from autonomous regions such as the Basque Country, Galicia, and Andalusia, and openly support movements in those regions. 📌Bukaneros regularly takes a stance against Monday matches and frequently displays banners about it. At the same time, it is possible to see banners for the working class in the stands at every match.
