Not to be overly sappy, but I was one of the ones who mentioned my grandma as an influence. This was her and I when I was in high school. She passed away in 2017, and never got to see 304 CC come to life. She spent so many years supporting me and my hobbies. I kept this hobby to myself and my family for many years. I would love to show her what it’s become today. She be so thrilled to see me on TV, in magazines and doing podcasts. I know she’d be amazed and so proud. Her and my granddad both had a hand in making me the sports and cards fan I am. I am so proud that my parents get to see this play out, they’ve been there since the start too. But I can only imagine what it would be like to tell her all the opportunities I’ve had because of cards.

It was an easy choice picking which Mike Webster card I’d be sharing today. Always grateful to have this one in my collection of one of the greatest Steelers of all-time and greatest centers in league history!

I saw an 86 this morning so that means I have to post Hines Ward right? 2007 Certified Materials Gold #’d 25 of Hines! I would probably venture to say I have more Hines cards than any other player in team history. One of my favorites growing up in the 2000’s!

@304Collector Fantastic card! I travelled over to Pittsburgh to watch the Steelers in October, so was actually at this game. I'm going to have to hunt down this card!! First one I've seen featuring those throwbacks. Thank you for sharing it.

@yanxchick I’ve enjoyed it every day for 25 years. So even when I have a gripe, I remind myself why I even do it in the first place! It’s a hobby I’ve carried for a long time and I love it!

Two early kickers that I don’t necessarily believe are top 3, but deserve to be mentioned here: 1. Lou Michaels (‘61-‘63), by the end of his three seasons, he was the teams all time leading scorer and field goals made leader. At one point, he led the team all time in scoring and sacks (unofficial). You’ll never hear that again. 2. Armand Niccolai (‘34-‘42), in an era where where kickers were wearing multiple hats and were usually skill guys, Niccolai was as a rare tackle/kicker combo. He led the team 4 times in scoring in an era where kickers were getting points multiple ways. He also twice led the NFL in field goals made. His scoring record stood until 1950 and his field goals made record stood until 1962. Boswell and Anderson are clear too 2. Reed and Gerela fighting for 3.

@sheetz @Pirates Only one player has ever played for the Pirates and Steelers, former RB and OF, Rex Johnston! Johnston played one season with the Steelers and mostly contributed as a returner. In 1964, he played briefly for the Pirates, and scored a 1 run in 10 PA’s!

In my recent searches for modern cards, I’ve come to enjoy the Optic Legendary Logos cards! 2021 Optic Prizm Legendary Logos of Najee Harris & 2022 Optic Prizm Legendary Logos of Kenny Pickett. I don’t need much more convincing than just seeing the 60’s Steelers logo. Any time we can honor history in the modern era, I’m sold!
