A powerful artificial intelligence model that appeared anonymously on a developer platform and was suspected to have been DeepSeek V4 turned out to be from Xiaomi. ebx.sh/VIP6n6

I think the most interesting part of the OPPO Find N6 is how the Chinese smartphone ecosystem is generally still first to market on a lot of technology, ahead of everyone else, even with memory uncertainty. This has the best crease on the market, OPPO is so confident they think it'll be the best going into next year. On briefing they said compare it to Apple's later this year! This phone will have a very limited global release in a couple Asia Pacific regions. It's genuinely one of the best Android phones I've used and it's kind of a shame we don't see more interest in other regions, it's very expensive to launch devices outside of Asia Pacific if you're a Chinese phone manufacturer. I wish there was more interest because it may push others to catch up or innovate in different ways, or maybe it just gives each region more interesting and competitive devices. Most of this is just to say they have a really good phone, I think it's a show of what's to come in smartphones and foldables, and getting into a likely shrinking smartphone market for this year I think the high end and especially the foldables are going to be way more interesting and probably see some growth. This is premium segment as a whole, not just foldables.

@mweinbach @bencsin another way to word this is that the air is clearly the best iphone if you don't arbitrarily refuse to use other things that are better than any iphone!

Yup, just like the reviewers praising the iphone air. They could only do that because they can use the Air as a gimmick fun alternative phone and go back to a proper phone when they go to a concert and need zoom.

The MacBook Neo is kind of like the iPhone mini. The same folks praising it all over social media are the ones who would never trade in their Pro for it. It’s clearly the best $600 laptop on the market - but few are going to switch away from the high-end. It’s about new buyers.

@scully1888 he isn't right, no linguist would agree with what he said in japanese (英語はシンプルな言葉なので仕方ない). the first-person pronoun example is facile, japanese barely has third-person pronouns at all in actual use but that doesn't make it a simpler language

Someone's already referred to this as "ragebait". He's explaining the difference between how English and Japanese language works. Calling English a "simple language" isn't invoking rage – he's right. I even added that extra line in the tweet to clarify it before the click.

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii says English translations of Japanese games lose "flavour" because it's a more "simple language". The intricacies of Japanese dialogue are lost when translating to English, Horii says. vgc.news/news/dragon-qu…

@345triangle That was the same mwc where Doogee held a launch event for a completely bezel-less phone, but turns out the device was a prototype locked in a glass case that no one could touch and nothing ever came of it. A complete waste of time. I never covered Doogee again after that.
