#Rom365, March 24, 1078, Nikephoros III Botaneiates entered #Constantinople to be crowned emperor, although he took power on Jan. 7 when he had deposed Michael VII Doukas. One of his generals was Alexios Komnenos who did likewise, deposed Nikephoros to become emperor in 1081.

#Rom365, March 23, 1480, Yuri Ivanovich born, grandson of Thomas Palaiologos, (Roman Emperor in exile), grand nephew of Constantine XI of #Constantinople, son of Sophia Palaiologina, who had married Ivan III and became Grand Princess of Moscow.

In March 2025, for example, the administrator of the Facebook page “Ramadan Breakers” received a two-year prison sentence and a fine for “promoting atheism” in Algeria. In the same month, Algerian social media activist Moh El Washam was sentenced to five years in prison for posting TikTok videos that authorities deemed critical of Islam. The weakness and cluelessness of many Western leaders as well as their appeasement of Islam are amongst the reasons why Islam keeps expanding and Christians and other non-Muslims are almost completely defenseless in majority-Muslim countries. Please stop celebrating the religious days of those who take pride in persecuting Christians:

#Rom365, March 19, 1205, Battle of Adramyttion, Latins vs Nikaean Romans, after the fall of #Constantinople. Last known date of Constantine Laskaris, sometimes called Constantine XI, making Constantine Palaiologos number XII. Both possibly uncrowned, XI, killed in the fighting.

#Rom365 March 18, 1915, The Constantinople Agreement. In WW1 Britain/France decided to give Turk occupied #Constantinople to Russia if the allies won the war, a bribe to stop them change sides, knowing their ambition to own The City. With the communist takeover it never happened.

#Rom365 March 17, 790, a service was held in Hagia Sophia Church to commemorate the #Constantinople earthquake of Feb. 9. It had been strong enough for people to camp out in the open. Empress Irene & son Constantine VI left to go to the palace of St. Mamas just outside the walls.

#Rom365 March 15, 351, Constantius II made cousin Gallus (married to Constantina) Caesar of the eastern half of the empire during the threat of Magnentius. 856, Michael III, deposed his mother, Empress Theodora. 963, Romanos II, died. Possibly great grandson of Michael III.

#Rom365, March 14, 1453, with help from the Venetian crews of the galleys of Alvise Diedo and Gabriel Trevisan, work started on deepening the moat around the land walls of #Constantinople and repairs carried out where needed. It took until the last day of March to complete.
