First time out with the new Callaway Quantum Max irons this morning and you start trusting less club pretty quickly. Really, really long. What impressed me even more is how steep landing angles are. More like players iron steep than game improvement steep. (Will get to sim to confirm). And maybe the biggest advantage of these irons is how enormous the sweet spot is. Might be the largest of any game improvement irons I’ve hit. Incredibly consistent distances and windows in misses. (Again I’ll get to sim soon for spin, launch, and dispersion numbers). When I take these indoors would you like to see any comparisons? Quantum Max vs. Titleist T350, vs. TaylorMade Qi Max, vs. Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal, other?

Chris Kirk also added this gorgeous new Odyssey Prototype Damascus Milled #7 Single Bend. Seeing a Damascus steel putter on the PGA Tour is pretty rare, but they usually produce a pretty soft feel, not unlike carbon steel since it’s usually based on that. Kevin Yu is also using a Damascus Milled #7 Crank Hosel. Who knows if this makes it to retail, but it probably won’t last long if it does.

Delivery just in from my friends at BOA. The new Adidas Golf Adipower 26 with BOA Fit System. Love the BOA dial on top. And something about the BOA laces and guides on these shoes giving it more of a traditional look (which I also love). Sam says they smell like precision fit.

.@CallawayGolf Quantum Mini (11.5, 13.5) surfaces at Pebble Beach, along with a Quantum Ti fairway wood (3, 3HL, 5). Never a bad week to consider a mini driver.
