36th District Court

The 36th District Court will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.  The Court will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The 36th District Court will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026 in observance of Independence Day.

The 36th District Court will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. The Court will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22nd.

Events like this reflect the Court’s strong commitment to community outreach and civic education, and we are encouraged by the students’ enthusiasm and curiosity about the law.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated court staff, whose hard work and coordination made this event possible.

The 36th District Court was proud to host a highly successful Law Day in the Community program at East English Village Preparatory Academy at Finney on May 1.

The 36th District Court will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. The Court will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26th.

Together, they walked attendees through landlord-tenant processes and answered questions from the community. Thank you to Councilwoman Johnson for hosting, and for her time and commitment to keeping our community informed.

In attendance from the court were Chief Judge McConico, Judge Demetria Brue, Judge Herman Griffin, General Counsel David Cross, and Community Relations Specialist Merlin Martin.

At Councilwoman Latisha Johnson’s latest community meeting, residents had the opportunity to hear directly from court leadership about Right to Counsel and landlord-tenant processes.

During this period, all late fees, penalties, and warrant costs will be fully waived upon payment of the original fines and costs owed. The amnesty program applies to all adjudicated cases with assessed fines and costs, with the exception of driver’s license reinstatement fees.
