Keeping a job while homeless is extremely complicated regardless your state.

Its really only their eyes & wing membrane that can be hurt from fire. The fire in the doom isnt necessarily what killed them, it was the Volcanos, Lava, Smog & Earth Quakes

Also they arnt “immune” to fire they are just EXTREMELY resistant to it due to their scales. Their wing membrane can catch easier tho
