XO is my guy but I have to respectfully disagree with this. From my experience the exact opposite of this is true. If you CAN quantify your edge, it’s not your edge for long, especially for retail futures and forex traders. Equities and crypto in certain instances can be a bit different. Most of the best traders I know are discretionary traders. Literally a few nights ago the Trump China meeting was a perfect example. A singular event that can’t be tested and was arguably the easiest trade of the month. Also if your edge is quantifiable then it likely can be automated and if it can be automated then it already has been or is in the process being automated by someone else. Obviously I’m speaking to discretionary traders which you as retail traders likely are whether you know it or not. lol
