@DanyBittel I mean it's a strange coincidence that you are following a similar path to me with the insect scans - I also did a hologram after my first dozen or so scans. How are you finding the Z8 so far? It's got a great sensor...

@3dFelix Why strange..? that is really cool! Not the same thing though. Jody is doing a "classic" hologram developed on a sheet. What you see here is wip. That voxon sure gives a Star Wars vibe.

Jody has been working on a hologram of one of my splats! I'm excited how this turns out.. but sure is some crazy stuff I don't remotely understand.

@DanyBittel It certainly does - a unique device for sure. Did you know that they have Ken Silverman doing all the coding for that (he made the build engine and was Carmacks only equal back in the day) hence the incredibly low latency of the pixel array. Definitely worth seeing in person.

@DanyBittel I focus on Geometry for my collaborative VR platform mainly which handles 500k+ models and 16k textures no issue. For the full 3d-macro-photo effect the splats must run on a tethered headset (Index) and big GPU.

@3dFelix Yes.. #3dgs are a perfect match for VR.. IF (big if) we can speed up rendering. I thought you were using geometry for VR?

@DanyBittel I just keep things linear and train with 16bits pc. For me the magic of macroscans is in VR where the scale factor is much more dramatic. Here's a link to my bee on supersplat - superspl.at/scene/777d4e1f

@3dFelix I've been meaning to try that.. but have not really felt the need yet.. (and that xrite is expensive😂).. I'm not really interested in "scientific scans" though... I see myself more as a (3D) photographer of small things.

@3dFelix Do you calibrate color with something like an X-Rite?

@DanyBittel I like the yellow and black its visually striking. I tried to keep the colours as correct as possible for most of mine although I may reconstruct a few colour variations for fun after seeing yours. I use chroma key for hairy/transparent stuff and automasks for everything else.

@3dFelix Yes, I guess. My Bumblebee was the first capture, I did a lot of tweaking, after spill suppression (chroma key). Do you shoot on white? How do you mask it?
