Where do I start if I want to learn what Lomez and Yarvin are fighting about?

The impulse to defoliate one's yard and to generally nuke all vegetation around a house is the ideological cousin of shaving body hair. Circumcision ties into it too. Where does the psychological urge to denude the natural come from? Why is the divide on such matters so stark? On one side, the Frenchman, the old money liberal in his leafy Nantucket estate, the naturalists and the romantics -- all with their bushy lawns and textured bodies; they're content to let them leaf out as God made them. The notion that they would molest the world with razors and waxes strikes them as neurotic, ugly, even juvenile. On the other side, the USA Coca-Cola Conservative, the prudish McMansion dweller, the "lawn guy" who fears his wife's scent (call it "cooties?") as much as he fears leaves and catkins raining down on his car, or insurance claims from storm damage. All agree: a de-militarized zone between man and nature is essential, on pain of shunning and disgust. Always slicing and dicing, from the yard to the bathroom to the hospital circumcision. Why do some people crave a world that looks like a giant parking lot populated by neatly-waxed hairless bodies? Why is the urge for prepubescent bodily aesthetics largely coextensive with the urge for clear-cutting, RoundUp, and tree removal?
