@CisekNicho79789 @BlockClubCHI A liquor license because it's a grocery store and grocery stores in IL typically carry liquor. Selling alcohol was always the plan. Nothing to do with taxes. Never said we needed it to succeed. Should sell it b/c it's standard practice and was always in the plan.

@JohnLeFevre Where is your data coming from? Soda and "junk food" is not the #1 expenditure by SNAP recipients by a longshot. What are you defining as "junk food"? Itemized receipts of SNAP purchases aren't reported to any agencies or payment processor.

It's simple economics: Junk food and soda is the #1 expenditure of SNAP recipients. January 1st: RFK removed sodas and junk food from SNAP. February 1st: Pepsi (the parent company of Doritos) reduced prices by 15%.

@BillyD422 @B1TuckerCarlson No one is forcing diversity. It happens when you are intentional. Your original comment that our staff has to be 60% white when we operate in a nearly 80% Black 20% Hispanic neighborhood was a strawman you used to spout your opinions about diversity when no one asked.

@BillyD422 @B1TuckerCarlson No one is forcing anything. We hire from the applicant pool that applies. We cast a wide net that draws in all types of applicants. If we find that we are missing a demographic in our staff that is represented in our customer base we are intentional about find that representation

@40AcresFresh @B1TuckerCarlson I grew up in an Italian neighborhood. The stores were all staffed by residents of the neighborhood. There was no need to force diversity. I am agreeing with you.
