For decades, investor-owned utilities in CA have killed more people from wildfires than any mass murderer, yet they are guaranteed a 10% rate of return and pass the cost of wildfire damages and settlements on to their ratepayers with the blessing of the CPUC. Not a single executive has ever gone to jail and the CA Legislature has created a $21B safety net which guarantees their solvency no matter how many homes they destroy. Half of that fund is paid by ratepayers. SCE has never made public the root cause of any of the dozens of catastrophic wildfires it caused. Their homes burned in the Eaton fire. Why Edison has kept information about the fire under wraps latimes.com/business/story…

This is powerful. So sick of partisan BS. Just make shit work.
Rambo Van Halen@RamboVanHalen

Make Shit Work Again People almost never come to our door after dark. Because we live in a (what used to be) a quiet place, and random visitors after dark are almost unheard of. So when the doorbell rang at 3:30am this morning I grabbed my shotgun. I racked the pump and shouted for the person at the door to identify themselves. Turns out it was a lady cop. Luckily the cops are used to armed homeowners around here. She shined a to flashlight identify herself, and I secured the gun and the dogs to see what she wanted. Turns out two people were shot across the street in the park. She wanted to know if your security cameras captured any footage of the incident. So I checked the app, and no—there was no footage (because our cameras point the other direction). And that was that. But I couldn’t get back to sleep—mostly because of the adrenaline. But also because I couldn’t help but notice that things are getting worse around here. This used to be a place where nothing happened. And now things definitely do happen. We used to live in LA. My wife and I did industry stuff. We had a good life as an urban childless couple, but then she got pregnant. We thought about the daunting challenge of raising kids in LA, and opted to get out. So we found a place in the Mountain West where nothing ever happens. It was a good place to raise kids. A place with good schools. A place where our children could wander the town by themselves. But it’s not that place anymore. Since Covid the schools have gone to shit. And a few weeks ago my son was at the neighborhood park (by himself) when a gang member pulled a gun on a parent at the playground. So early this morning I’m lying in bed, and I’m thinking about this. And I thought to myself, “We need to leave.” But then I had another thought—a disturbing thought. I thought, “But there’s no place else to go.” Because it’s almost everywhere now. Red State, Blue State, it doesn’t matter. And if it’s not there yet it will be soon. And if you think you’re safe, you’re not. Because this thing is coming for all of us. *** My politics in five words: I Want Shit To Work That’s it. I just want shit to work. And I don’t really care how that happens. I’m old enough to remember when shit did work. It never worked perfectly. But I don’t think shit has worked perfectly in the entire history of human endeavors. I mean, read the Bible—it’s all about shit not working perfectly. But I grew up in a time when things ran fairly well—far better than they do now. I’m not that old, but back in the day schools actually taught stuff. And there wasn’t choking bureaucracy in government and business and every other institution. And we could TRUST those institutions—because they weren’t rife with corruption. And if minor corruption happened to be discovered it was A BIG FUCKING DEAL—because the media wasn’t bent, and they’d actually report on the corruption. And things weren’t so expensive. A young person (me) could work a menial job afford a car and an apartment and still have money left over to take girls on dates. Because there was OPPORTUNITY for young people. Now I could go on and on, but I’m starting to sound like an old man shouting at a cloud, so let me just say, trust me kids: SHIT USED TO WORK. Spencer Pratt is about my age. He remembers when shit used to work. He remembers when you could count on the fire department to not let a giant part of your city burn down with residents inside. He remembers when you didn’t have to step over fentanyl zombies to take your kids to preschool. He remembers when there wasn’t human shit on the streets. He remembers when corrupt government officials were held accountable. He remembers when we could go about our lives and not worry—because shit worked. I can sum up Spencer Pratt’s campaign platform in four words: Make shit work again. So can he win the LA mayoral race? It depends on one question: Is it bad enough yet? I think it is bad enough. It’s so bad that it can no longer be ignored. And I think most Angelenos feel the same way. There’s a critical mass of people who remember when shit worked. They had no way to fix it. They couldn’t imagine a solution. And then one guy stood up and said he could fix it. Because none of these “intractable problems” are actually intractable. We know how to do this. We know how to fix things. We know how to Make. Shit. Work. Again. What was lacking was The Will to do it. And Spencer Pratt has The Will. No, I don’t live in LA anymore. But I’m pulling for Spencer. Because this election is so much larger than Los Angeles. Because there’s no where else to run to. Because we’ve got to make a stand. Somewhere. Anywhere. So vote for Spencer. And if you can’t vote then make a small donation. Because we have to make shit work again. Because we don’t have a choice.

Let’s be clear: Newsom has done next to nothing for fire survivors for 16 months. 16 months later he wants to review and “offer clarity” on the most simple premise!? Let me offer clarity for you. 1) Property taxes for property that no longer exists should be $0 until certificate of occupancy. Not deferred. Eliminated until you can move back home, 2) State and local taxes should be $0 on a rebuild instead of $5 BILLION projected. This is “disaster profiteering” by the state and city that is deeply responsible. A fire of your own making shouldn’t be a profit center, 3) Policies must be put in place to reassure insurance companies that this level of gross negligence and ineptitude at the city and state level will never happen again, 4) Settle the lawsuit. This incompetence has destroyed lives. The solution is very straightforward. State policies selected plants (weeds) over people. You failed to put out a fire that burned for 6 days… ultimately wiping out a city that you’ve historically milked for tax revenue. Now you continue to do so despite the most diabolical outcome. Follow steps 1-4 above. Show real accountability toward your constituents. THAT is leadership. Not performative nothingness like your post. Sincerely, Jeremy Padawer Pacificpalisades.com @spencerpratt @415FirePhoto @Hotshot_Movie

Let’s be clear: LA fire survivors who lost their homes shouldn’t have to pay property taxes based on a value of a property that no longer exists. Today my office urged LA County to offer clarity and assurance for these impacted survivors so that they can continue to defer payments without penalty.

@spencerpratt is Mr Smith Goes To Washington. He’s got the receipts. His home town got nuked due to an empty LADWP reservoir and smoldering embers left on State Park land for six days. The film industry is gone. WW II era bridges, roads and water distribution systems are failing. LAFD and LAPD are under funded and under staffed. Zombies occupy DTLA. Addicts on Skid row use abused dogs to test Fentanyl contamination. Meanwhile billions in taxpayers’ money goes to NGOs tied to career politicians. L.A. doesn’t need another career politician - it needs Mr. Smith. x.com/spencerpratt/s…

2 days before the fire Pacific Palisades citizen John Alle expressed grave concern with Mayor Karen Bass. Alle challenged Bass on leaving Los Angeles with known wind conditions after a dry season. Yesterday, after almost 16 months, John Alle bravely stepped into the spotlight. This video captures the recording from 1/4/25 - just 2 days prior to the unnatural disaster Palisades fire that should NEVER have happened. - Bass left with NO Deputy Mayor of Public Safety who had called a b*mb threat to City Hall. - Bass left with a 1/1 fire still smoldering on state grounds above the Palisades due to a protected plant. - Bass left with up to 40% of fire apparatus not available or inoperable. - Bass left her Fire Chief who Bass later fired. - Bass left the Palisades with a reservoir nearly empty and limited water pressure as a result. - LA City predeployed limited fire people the day of the fire. Bass erased all texts despite requests from LA Times. - According to LA Times Bass then conspired to impact the LA Fire After Action Report. As citizens we demand to know what happened. City and State claimed complete immunity and judge denied thank goodness. We want all discovery NOW. 1) Address these allegations. We want to understand fact from fiction. 2) Set policy that doesn’t allow for this to happen to any other community in Los Angeles ever again. 3) Learn from this ineptitude and gross negligence. John Alle, thank you for your bravery and willingness to speak up. @TheSuperPav9 Hardly. Petitions for a writ of mandate are rarely granted and are reserved for extraordinary relief by the Court of Appeal.

The Attorney General claims "writ relief is critical to prevent unnecessary litigation concerning conduct for which the State is immune from liability." The State seeks extraordinary relief from the Court of Appeal because (1) it claims it is immune from any failure to provide fire protection in Topanga State Park, and (2) the trial court's order overruling its demurrer "will force the State to endure additional litigation, including costly discovery, summary judgment briefing and perhaps trial...and prolong uncertainty among all parties and the public about the State's potential liability for billions of dollars in damage." What's fatal to the State's arguments is (1) plaintiffs have not alleged CA State Parks engaged in any firefighting activities on the Lachman Fire; (2) The Director of CA State Parks told the Congressional Permanent Committee on Investigations that CA State Parks "is not a firefighting agency" and that the LAFD was responsible for fighting the Lachman Fire; and (3) the tens of billions of dollars in damage suffered by the victims of the Palisades Fire pales in comparison to the financial burden on the State to defend this case. Here's a solution @AGRobBonta - settle the case and make whole the victims of the smoldering embers CA State Parks left in Topanga State Park for six days before they rekindled into the Palisades Fire. @SenRickScott @spencerpratt @joelpollak @AleneTchek @Hotshot_Movie @jenvanlaar

Just one week after we caught the State of California hiding damaging text messages between its CA State Park staff about smoldering roots at the Lachman Fire burn scar on Jan. 2nd, the State filed a petition for writ of mandate today asking the Court of Appeal to stay all discovery in the Palisades Fire Litigation. This after discovery was initially stayed for 14 months after the fire. The trial judge ordered that stay lifted on March 31st, and we immediately served written discovery on the State, which is due in May. The State clearly is worried and doesn't want discovery to move forward in this case. @SenRickScott @spencerpratt @AleneTchek @Hotshot_Movie @JeremyCom @joelpollak

They lost their homes bc of "environmental" regs you advocate for that discourage controlled burns. And in the Palisades, LAFD wasn't allowed to fully extinguish the Lachman Fire bc of more "environmental" regulations. They didn't lose their homes. Their homes were sacrificed by people like you at the altar of Team Plant. Take ALL the seats.

The people of Altadena and Pacific Palisades paid a climate tax last year. They lost their homes. They didn't do the polluting, yet they paid the price. That is wrong. Polluters need to pay.

@juliagulia1995 The State didn’t want to produce that text chain to us. We had to fight to get it. It reveals the contempt those at CA State Parks have for the fire victims. #PlantsOverPeople

Here are the text messages CA State Parks didn't want you to see! Smoking gun texts between two State Park employees who surveyed the Lachman burn scar on Jan. 2nd reveal one of them told her supervisor that she saw "smoke/smoldering roots popping up here and there" after the LAFD had rolled up their hoses and left the scene. In her deposition yesterday, Maegan Ealy, a former forestry aid at CA State Parks, testified that Noa Rishe, her supervisor, called her on Nov. 20, 2025 to ask her about the Lachman Fire. This call occurred days after we obtained a court order on Nov. 17th to depose State Park employees who responded to the Lachman Fire. Ealy told Rishe that when she went to the Lachman burn scar on Jan. 2nd to photograph fire suppression damage with her partner, Michael Moss, she saw "smoke/smoldering roots" and used "fire tools" to put out the hot spots. This report aligns with the testimony of LAFD firefighter Scott Pike, who testified that he saw "smokers" and "red hot coals" on Jan. 2nd when firefighters were rolling up hoses preparing to leave the scene. Ealy and Moss said they arrived just as those firefighters were leaving the burn scar. During her deposition yesterday, when pressed to explain her text messages, Ealy testified that she must have "misremembered" seeing smoke/smoldering roots at the Lachman burn scar and that she must have confused her memory with the Palisades Fire a week later. When asked if she ever told anyone that her report of seeing smoke/smoldering roots at the Lachman burn scar was false, she said she hadn't told anyone (other than the State's lawyer). In our opinion, the credibilty of her testimony is highly suspect. The fact that the State failed to produce these text messages in response to mulitple court orders and Public Records Act requests also raises questions about why the State suppressed these texts during discovery. The State filed an unsuccessful demurrer claiming it had no notice or knowledge of smoldering embers creating a dangerous condition on the Lachman burn scar despite the fact that Ealy told her supervisor that she saw smoke and smoldering roots on Jan. 2nd. We intend to hold the State and the State Attorney General's Office accountable for any and all discovery violations. We will relentlessly seek to uncover the truth on behalf of the victims of the Palisades Fire. @SenRickScott @spencerpratt @Hotshot_Movie @JeremyCom @AleneTchek
