21st Generation Kenkyuusei Morikawa Yu shares her experience as a K-POP Trainee before joining AKB48. "I started attending a dance school around the second year of Junior High. It specialized in K-POP and through that I received an audition offer from a Korean agency. I passed the audition and went to Korea. I stayed there for about two years, until this June. We only had Sundays off. Other than that, we trained from morning until night every day. We lived in a dormitory, and we had to do all the cleaning and laundry ourselves. There were Korean and Thai trainees, a very multinational environment. At the end of every month, there was an evaluation. Every month, people would be told 'This is your final day'. Trainees would disappear one by one. Korean Idol Training is really strict. I returned to Japan and was debating whether to go to another Korean agency, but around that time I happened to see on Tiktok that AKB48 was holding auditions for 21st Generation. I liked AKB48 for a long time so I decided to audition. In South Korea, we would work on a single song for an entire month in preparation for the evaluation, so it wasn't about learning things quickly. The most challenging part here is learning so many AKB48 songs.
