I share my story as I put forward amendments to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill to strengthen protections for children in care. -- As a teenager, I went into the care of my grandparents. It wasn’t easy for them. On a state pension in a council house, they didn’t have a lot to give. But what they did give me was love, guidance and support. I was lucky. They helped me get back on the straight and narrow and are a big part of the reason I am now an MP. I am also glad to have rebuilt my relationship with my birth parents. Now I want to help other children in kinship care. Watch below👇

What a litter pick! 🚮👏 Last week, Council staff teamed up with Colchester Borough Homes and our green services provider, Idverde, for a massive city-wide clean-up. A staggering 400 bags of rubbish were collected, making Colchester’s streets cleaner & safer for everyone. 💚
